Our Mission Statement
We are a group of people with a shared vision of living in the forest, surrounded by and nurturing the nature that houses us.
Our mission is to find, re-wild and regenerate a piece of woodland in Scotland in which to build a sustainable, low impact, cozy ecovillage for our intentional community to flourish in.
We want to build a community in the truest sense of the word, depending upon and supporting each other in order to truly share a beautiful life together.
We intend to share our values with the greater community around us, and hope to be an inspiration that can educate and guide those who seek to follow in our footsteps.
Our Story

Teinnteanach (Scottish Gaelic meaning “of the hearth”) started in 2022 when our founding members began to look for others who shared their vision. Shortly thereafter, a group began meeting online to discuss their aspirations for building an ecovillage. Today, we are a group of four households that meet both online and in person to strive towards a future we can share together.
We have not started looking for land or raising funds, but anticipate the ability to do so in the near future. We have instead spent our time building a strong foundation by getting to know one another, ensuring we truly share a singular vision, and practising our consensus process.
Our most recent achievement as a group was incorporating as a housing co-operative. This was a challenge that occupied over a year’s worth of biweekly (more or less) video meetings, long conversations deciphering legal documents, and finding consensus on innumerable decisions about how we plan to operate. We can now proudly call ourselves Teinnteanach Housing Co-operative, a title that allows us to function as a legal entity to secure funds, purchase property, and own land without any one member holding more power than any other.
This ‘fully-mutual’ model of housing ownership is something we’re passionate about, and we belong to a larger co-operative that helps other groups like us bring their dream communities to life and fight against the housing crisis we face as a global community. Read about Radical Routes here.

Our very first successful project as a group: The visioning document. We can proudly say that each of us is dedicated to bringing this vision to life. Its purpose is to attract kindred spirits while also serving as a waystone to help guide our growth in the years to come. Read Here
